Jan Crawford took the F2 Feature Race in Monaco, following a nail biting, eventful race, with only 13 cars managing to finish the what became an interrupted and shortened race.

Following a delayed start, Sebastian Montoya, who lined up P5 on the grid, stalled his car again on the grid before the formation lap,  resulting in a pit lane start for him.

Engines roared and the green flag was waved as the red lights turned off before 22 cars raced eagerly into turn one, Martins briefly taking the lead before Dunne collided with the side of his car, sending Martins into the wall and causing most of the field behind to cause a 11 car collision at first corner, forcing 7 cars to retire and bringing out an early red flag

The restart, initially behind the safety car following 30 minutes of clear up, began with Leonardo Fornaroli lining up P1 and Montoya, who had to start from the pit lane, lined up P2, having gone back to the grid order however without those who retired.

30 minutes was left on the clock following the rolling start, with all 15 cars making it safely through the first corner with Durksen pilling the pressure on Kush Maini from the off, with a gap starting to emerge in the field with Browning unable to keep up with the cars ahead.

A second yellow flag was waved and a virtual safety car was bought following an over eager move from Durksen on Maini. The Paraguayan was caught out having to avoid a collision with the cars up ahead and brushing the back of Maini’s car to then collide with the wall, taking his front wing off and having to park up down the escape road.

A lap later, the virtual safety car ended and the pit lane opened, with most of the drivers initially opting to stay out, with only Gorthe pitting to change onto the soft tyres, with others battling for position out front with just a a few tenths between the top three.

With half the race remaining and 10 cars still left to pit, strategy was now the key part in keeping track position, Luke Browning refused to pit before Beganovic crashed into the wall, bringing out another virtual safety car.

This neutralised the race meaning the cars cannot pit and gain advantage of the yellow flag, which is only allowed behind the full safety car, which was then bought out a lap later, with 6 cars pitting first with the top three past the end of the pit lane before the full safety car was released, meaning they had to box a lap later, with Crawford now leading the race as the top three emerged with Fornaroli out first followed by Lindblad then Montoya.

A second red flag was waved with 6 minutes to go, meaning Crawford was victorious around the Principality, taking his second win of the season.

Following the race, Lindblad received a 5 second penalty, 2 penalties in two races dropping him down to P9, with Montoya finishing off the top three, earning his first podium of his season in F2.

The teams and drivers will now turn their attention to the final race of this European triple header in Barcelona next weekend.
