Returning in his third season in FIA Formula 2 with PREMA Racing, Jehan Daruvala shows impressive results in Bahrain’s pre-season test.
The Indian driver was a consistent frontrunner, as he topped one session from the three-day testing, setting the second quickest time in the week.
Daruvala believes that he has good preparation for the first race of the season,
“We experienced three very productive days of testing. As a team, we were trying to simulate what is going to happen on the race weekend in terms of conditions,” Said the Red Bull Junior driver.
He continued, “So in the AM sessions, we focuses mostly on race runs, starts, and pit-stop practice, and in the PM sessions, we were focusing more on qualifying pace; hence we used one set of Option tyres on Day 1 and Day 2 at night to have a feel for how it will be in qualifying.”
Switching from Carlin to the Italian team PREMA, Daruvala claims that he already feels comfortable with the car, despite running outside the top 10 on two sessions.
“The car felt great on short and long runs, and as a team, we got through our run plan, of course, apart from Day 3 evening with the sandstorm.”
His re-signing with the Italian outfit has gained him more confidence to reach his target to fight for the championship, he looks forward to his 46th race in the championship.
“There are a lot of positives to take from the test, and most importantly, I feel comfortable in the car and ready for the battle on our hands!”
