After adding another win in Monza and closing out the weekend with a perfect record, Joshua Dürksen spoke about the race just after crossing the finish line.
The Paraguayan driver talked about the pace he showed throughout the weekend, the pressure from Rafael Câmara in the closing laps, and the work done by Invicta Racing behind the scenes.
“I felt very good here, and to be honest this was a perfect weekend for me. I was almost having the pole positions of my two races, so for sure the pace was good. Then the Sprint race victory and now the Feature race victory has just been incredible, and I’m just super happy with how the whole weekend went.”
Asked how he was able to keep Câmara behind him in such a close finish, Dürksen said he had no margin for error. “I was just doing quali laps every single lap. I know that Rafa is super, super quick as well, so I knew I had no margin of error and I was just pushing as hard as I could.
“The tires were screaming, they were asking me to stop, but I was just keeping pushing. I think what helped me a lot was that after the pit stop I had this gap of more than one second.
“I think if Rafa would have been on the DRS, I think we would have been battling for the whole race. He was taking me, I was overtaking him, and so on, until the last lap. So yeah, the initial pace on the soft, I think, helped me a lot to just make it happen, to get the victory today.”
He also praised the job done by the team throughout the weekend. “Invicta Racing has done a very good job. They have given me a superb car all weekend long. We have been quick in FP, we have been quick in quali, in the races, so really the car was just perfect. And by the car being so good, for sure this helps a lot, and it just helps us as well to extract the maximum of the tires every single lap.”
