Campos Racing’s Kush Maini topped the final session of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 post-season testing in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina.
Villagómez in his VAR car and Trident’s Novalak rounded off the top respectively.

During the opening stages of the session, this afternoon Novalak was heading the timings with a 1:37.292 was over 1.65 faster than the rest. The final session had teams practicing pit stops and clocking up the mileage in the cooler temperatures, something we have seen over these three days.
Formula 3 graduate and Carlin driver for this test, Zane Maloney brought out a Red Flag later on as he stopped at Turn 14.
As the session resumed Maini managed to put in what proved to be the fastest lap of the afternoon with a 1:36.875, just before another Red Flag was out for a stoppage of Roy Nissany’s Charouz.
This didn’t give much time for the drivers to get many more laps in with circa 10 minutes remaining, however, Villagómez clocked in at 1:37.229 -0.3545 off Maini’s leading time.
Novalak’s time still held through the session to finish third, just ahead of Maloney and Leclerc who were both -0.8 and change off the Barbadian driver.Â
As always it’s hard to gauge what was learned from these tests given the respective programmes, however, as an InsideF2.com follower you can find out what the drivers say from our exclusive interviews from the Yas Marina Circuit in our news feed.
The Teams and Drivers will get back for 2023 pre-season tests at the Bahrain International Circuit, on February 14-15-16.
