Red Bull Junior Liam Lawson is approaching the 11th round of the FIA Formula 2 season with high expectations after a rollercoaster of performances throughout 2022, with podiums and retirements, but he’s looking forward to racing on Belgian soil.
“I’m super excited for the triple header, a lot of racing before quite a large break,” said Lawson ahead of the upcoming three races at Spa, Zandvoort, and Monza. However, the calendar will then have no races until November, which will be the last round of the season in Abu Dhabi.
“This is a big chunk of the championship where we need to make up some points. Probably three of the most unique tracks on the calendar and I’m looking forward to all three of them.” shared the Red Bull junior.
The undeniable support from the public in all three tracks of this triple header will be a huge motivator for all drivers, but they must remain focused because these three rounds will define the championship.
Moreover, Lawson shared his excitement about driving an F1 car in Spa “This weekend I get to drive the F1 car as well, so that will be a pretty special moment.
“I think that Eau Rouge is probably the most iconic part of Spa. All in all I’m sure it will be a very special weekend”.
Lawson has accumulated 88 points and currently stands eighth in the Drivers Championship, 31 points behind his teammate Logan Sargeant, who will drive an F1 car at the Circuit of The Americas later this year.
The talented blond duo have managed to bring Carlin in second place in the Teams Championship. With only four rounds to go, all drivers are excited yet pressured to perform well – every little thing counts in these final rounds of the season.
