Following his maiden win in his rookie season of the FIA Formula Two Championship, Fornaroli expressed ahead of the upcoming Belgium Grand Prix that his key focus will always be ‘finishing as good as I can’.
Currently sitting fourth in the driver’s championship, only 18 points behind championship leader Richard Verschoor with six rounds remaining, Leonardo expressed how anything could still happen in the remaining races and personally, he feels he needs to try and ‘focus on himself’ in order to have the best chance of a championship win in his first season.
Fornaroli also indicated how ‘until the last second, a lot can change’ therefore even though he and the team are in a good position currently, there are still races remaining and issues and problems that both him and the team could encounter.
Leonardo later went on to express how crucial getting the ‘basics right’ will be to give him the best chance of getting a championship win, and how he must ‘give the best every round, drive the best every round to achieve good results and always score points in every race’ .
Fornaroli finally concluded in stating how a wet track ,as forecast, would bring an extra element of strategy into the race, which he expressed would bring both opportunities and hinderances to all teams, however coming from an extremely wet race in Silverstone, does still feel hopeful that he could still score points in this weekend if him and the team win the ‘strategy lottery’ for both qualifying and the races.
On track action will begin on Friday 25th with Free Practice starting at 10:10 local time followed by Qualifying at 14:55 with the Sprint Race on Saturday and the Feature Race following on the Sunday.
