Loake aims for British F4 title in return to the series with JHR

Joseph Loake is aiming to win the British F4 championship as he returns to the series with JHR Developments.

The 16-year-old enjoyed three victories during his debut season in single-seaters last year including a superb drive at Thruxton.

Loake was consistently near the front winning and taking a third place at Oulton Park which helped him achieve P6 in the drivers’ standings.

He said via the FIA Formula 4 website: “I’ll be going for the championship – that’s the main goal.

“JHR are going to be fully behind me, which is really nice, so I’ll be giving it my all and will see how we get on.

“We won’t know until round one exactly what the ultimate pace is like, so I’m just focusing on getting the most out of myself and the car that I have.”

British F4 are moving to the Tatuus T-421 which includes the halo and Pirelli tyres. The British driver has already driven the new car during two rounds of the F4 UAE Championship at the Dubai Autodrome.

The Maxonian said his previous F4 outings have helped him assist JHR in progressing with the new car: “With my experience in the series last year and racing in F4 UAE in Dubai, I have been heavily involved with helping the team to develop the new car.

“Everyone in the team is working in unison and I think we have done a really good job while making some breakthroughs which we hope will pay off.”

The JHR Team Principal Steven Hunter spoke highly of the 2020 Fiesta Junior Champion about his comments over the winter: “His insight and help with our understanding of the car in F4 UAE was very helpful and he’s also been assisting Neil Brown Engineering with development of the UK spec engine.

“His opening weekend race win was no fluke last season and if things fall his way there is no reason why he cannot be fighting for race wins and be in the mix for the championship this year.”

The British F4 Championship begins on 23-24 April at Donington Park.
