Maini Looking to End Season on a High as Invicta Close in on Campos for Teams’ Championship

Kush Maini says he is focussed on getting as many points as possible in the second half of the FIA Formula 2 season in order to give Invicta Racing the best chance to the teams’ title.

In between rounds at Silverstone and Hungary, Maini had the privilege of partaking in the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb, driving the 2012 Lotus in the Alpine livery.

InsideF2 caught up with the Invicta Racing driver before his final run to reflect on his season so far, the constructors’ standings and this weekend’s round at the Hungaroring.

Invicta currently stand just 15 points behind leaders Campos Racing with six rounds remaining, we asked Maini what his focus will be for the remaining races:

“I think the focus for me is just to do my best. We had so many up and down moments this year.

“Some moments that were out of [my] control and the team’s control which just meant that we wasted two or three weekends, obviously with the disqualification when we poled it as well.

“It’s been a year of many what ifs, I just want to get as many points now as possible, wins, podiums, and end the year on a high.

“I don’t think the points standings really show what we’re capable of which is a bit sad but we have six rounds now to end the season on a high.

“If I get as many points now as possible then that will give the team the best chance to win the teams’ championship.

“I think anyways, don’t look at the championship until the last round but I’m as hungry as ever to be back where we should be.”

We also asked Maini which of the circuits he is most looking forward to ahead and he told he just can’t wait to get going again:

“I’m always looking forward to the next [race] most. Hungary is a great track, I got a podium there in F3.

“After Silverstone, it’s one of my favourite tracks but we had an unfortunate brake issue in the Feature Race so I want to get back as soon as possible and fight at the front so I’d say Hungary is my next favourite because first of all, it’s a great track but also it’s the next race.”
