Between Silverstone and Budapest,  Kush Maini had the pleasure of driving the 2012 Lotus Formula 1 car up the famous Goodwood hill for the 2024 Festival of Speed.

The Festival of Speed is held every year at the iconic Goodwood circuit and is often a highlight of the year for many drivers, this year including seven current F1 drivers and Maini’s F2 rival, Ollie Bearman.

InsideF2 were lucky enough to speak to Maini ahead of his final run of the weekend before handing over to former F2 driver and fellow Alpine Academy driver, Jack Doohan:

“[Goodwood] is such a good event and I can’t thank Alpine enough for giving me this opportunity. There’s such a great atmosphere here at Goodwood and I definitely want to come back every year.

“It’s just fun to be in a Formula 1 car without any pressure and just having fun. It was a great experience and I can’t wait for the next one.

“I found out probably Monaco weekend. When they told me, straight away I was like, ‘Yes! Whatever I have, cancel it’.

We also asked him if more laidback events like Goodwood helps his focus for Formula 2 since there are lengthy gaps between races:

“Something like this you don’t get to do often, you don’t get to do donuts and slide around. Something like this, especially in an F1 car, is an opportunity you can’t miss and I’m so glad I’m here”.
