Miyata Reflects on Debut F2 Weekend

FIA Formula 2 rookie Ritomo Miyata has reflected on his first weekend in the championship, which resulted in two points from Saturday’s Feature Race.

The first round of the season, held in Bahrain, was the 24-year-old’s first experience of single-seater racing outside of his native Japan.

The Japanese driver impressed on Thursday in Qualifying, securing a fifth-place start for the Feature Race.

However, from sixth in the reverse-grid Sprint Race on Friday, the Rodin Motorsport driver fell out of the points (top eight places only) to ninth.

He would repeat his P9 finish in the Feature Race, but scooped a couple of points as the top 10 finishers score in a Feature Race.

Writing on his X account, formerly known as Twitter, Miyata said he was unlucky, but he’d been able to improve his performance from Friday to Saturday.

Miyata’s team mate, Zane Maloney, took victory in both races in Bahrain, giving the ‘Boy from Barbados’ an early championship lead of 12 points over Campos Racing’s Pepe Marti.
