A race at Mugello has been added to the F2 2020 calendar, extending the length of the season to at least nine races.
Earlier on Friday morning it was announced that F1 would travel to Mugello, Sep 11-15, and Russia, Sep 25-27 Sep.
F2 has followed F1 into every race thus far. A Russia announcement may come soon.
F2 as we know it has never travelled to the Tuscan region for a race. The event will be the second consecutive weekend in Italy, following the traditional Monza visit.
12 races were planned for F2 before the Coronavirus pandemic played havoc with the schedule. Mugello makes it nine, with Russia, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi tipped to push the season back to the original 12.
The F2 season finally got underway last weekend, over three months after it was originally set to begin.
Events in Baku, Monaco and the Netherlands were originally set to be held but have since been cancelled.
Callum Ilott currently holds the lead in the F2 championship after the first event, with Yuki Tsunoda on pole for Saturday’s Feature Race.
