The American Red Bull junior finished outside of the points in both races this weekend despite putting his car in reverse pole for the Sprint Race, however, he still believes the weekend was a positive one.
“I do think it was positive. In Qualifying I did put everything on the line on my last lap.”
The American had an unfortunate Sstrat from pole in only his second F2 Sprint Race, but then finishing on P9 was not where the rookie expected to end up.
“Starting from pole it was not where we wanted to finish. I think we should have had a better result so that is a shame.”
In the Feature Race the super-soft tyre worked well on the Hitech Pulse-Eight car but once they swapped to the medium tyres the pace slipped.
“As soon as we went onto the medium tyre we didn’t have a lot of pace until the very end and we got overtaken by everyone on the alternate strategy.”
Going into the first Formula 2 weekend in Australia next time out, Crawford is looking to continue improving.
“We had a lot of positives, it just all needs to come together a little more.”
We will see if Jak does manage to improve when Formula 2 visits Albert Park for the first time in two weeks.
