Théo Pourchaire enters the final two races of his FIA Formula 2 Championship career battling with Frederik Vesti.
News broke prior to the Sprint Race that “Car 5 (Pourchaire) was alleged to have carried out a practice start whilst departing from the Support Race Pit Lane prior to Race 1.”
The announcement would have put more nerves on what was likely to be one of the most challenging races in the young French driver’s career thus far.
Théo on the other hand remained calm when speaking with InsideF2’s Micheal McClure exclusively from the paddock in Abu Dhabi today.
Good news ahead of the Championship deciding Feature Race for Pourchiare is that the FIA announced at 18:39 local time that they would be taking “No further action.”
The report stated “The Stewards examined video footage and were provided with data evidence by the Technical Delegate. Having considered the matter extensively, the Stewards determined that Car 5 did not carry out a practice pit stop whilst departing from the Support Race Pit Lane prior to Race 1. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
This sets us up now for a huge battle between Vesti and Pourchiare in the final race event of the season.
