Fortec Motorsports has retained Edward Pearson for a second GB3 season.

The British driver is the first to be announced in the championship for 2024.

Pearson finished 19th in the standings this season, taking two podiums at Oulton Park and Donington Park for Fortec.

The 16-year-old is delighted to return to GB3 and wants to build on his podium finishes next season: “I am happy to be running with Fortec Motorsport once again in 2024. The team and I had a good year, so we’re all going to work hard over the winter to make sure we’re fighting at the front when the season starts.

“We had some good results this year, but we want to do even better and be battling for wins as we build on everything we’ve learned so far.”

The driver from Dorking performed admirably before his GB3 debut, taking two fifth places on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in British F4 in 2022, as well as taking a maiden car racing podium in Ginetta Juniors in 2021.

The Fortec team struggled in 2023, failing to score a victory and only taking four podiums.

The eight-round season represented a difficult step backwards from Joel Granfors’s title-challenging campaign a year earlier.

The Swede pushed British driver Luke Browning to the final round of the championship at Donington Park.

Oliver Dutton, Fortec Motorsport Team Principal, said: “We’re very happy that Edward will be racing with us in the GB3 Championship once again. It was really impressive for him to finish on the podium twice in his first season of what is a tough series and against some strong rivals.

“We’ve enjoyed working with him to fully harness his potential and are glad to be continuing that journey through the 2024 season in what will no doubt be another competitive grid of drivers.” is your home for Formula 2
