Pedro Piquet leaves Formula 2 Piquet - FIA Formula 2 News

Pedro Piquet has announced his departure from Formula 2 at the end of the season.

The Brazilian who made his debut in the series this year has cited budgetary and importance of money rather than talent for his reasons not to continue in the series.

In an Instagram post, Piquet spoke of his reasons behind his departure from Formula 2 as he looks for opportunities elsewhere.

Piquet leaves the series with two point-scoring finishes with a best finish of seventh in the Sprint race and twentieth in the driver’s standings.

However, the Brazilian showed flashes of brilliance in his first season after being cruelly denied a podium in the sprint race in Bahrain with his Charouz suffering a technical failure just laps away from the checkered flag.

The news of Piquet’s departure means that Charouz Racing System will potentially have a completely new line up for the 2021 season as Louis Deletraz’s future in the series looks increasingly doubtful.

Piquet is the second driver to announce that he will not be on the Formula 2 grid with Sean Gelael announcing that he will be seeking opportunities away from Formula 2 for 2021.
