The Sprint Race grid for the Formula 2 round at Lusail is set to deliver another thrilling chapter in the 2024 championship, with some intriguing storylines to watch. Following Qualifying, a reverse grid format sees Oliver Bearman, representing PREMA Racing, line up on pole.
Bearman has showcased his talent throughout the season and will be aiming to maximise his starting position to secure crucial points as the season nears its climax.
Campos Racing’s Isack Hadjar starts from second and remains a strong contender in the championship fight. With a reputation for aggressive racing, the French driver will undoubtedly be looking to pressurise Bearman from the outset. DAMS Lucas Oil teammates Jak Crawford and Dino Beganovic line up in fourth and sixth respectively, both in strong positions to fight for podiums.
Gabriel Bortoleto, of Invicta Racing, starts from eighth and sits as championship leader faces a challenge to climb through the field in the limited laps of the Sprint Race but has proven his ability to adapt and deliver when it matters most.
Notable penalised drivers include Kush Maini, who drops to 12th following a three-place grid penalty for impeding, and Christian Mansell of Trident, making his F2 debut from 20th.
The Sprint Race promises to be a decisive moment in the title fight, with the desert circuit offering high-speed challenges and limited overtaking opportunities.
