Campos Racing’s Pepe Martí says he made all the right choices on his way to winning the FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race in Bahrain from 11th on the grid.
He admitted to needing to watch the race back to give greater detail on his race, but said he’d survived a number of close calls throughout the race.
“It was a crazy race from start to end,” he said, adding: “I think we managed it pretty well, I was just taking my chances.
“In the last few laps it was just a lottery, there was not much I could do, I was just going into a corner and seeing two guys on the inside so I tried to get a switchback.
“It could have worked, it could have not worked but today it went my way.”

The Red Bull Junior Programme driver was sixth when racing resumed on Lap 18 following a second Safety Car period, before roaring through to victory.
He described the restart, where cars were three-wide at times, as “complete mayhem”
“I took all the right decisions,” the 19-year old said, adding that he feels that’s one of his strengths.
Martí said the car clearly has a lot of pace and that will stand him good stead come race day on Sunday.
