ART Grand Prix’s Théo Pourchaire is excited at the chance of another win at Round 10 of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship in Budapest this weekend.
Speaking to InsideF2 in the paddock, the Frenchman said: “I am excited! I am excited to finally get another win.”
Pourchaire, while second in the Drivers’ Standings, has not won a race since the Imola Feature Race, way back in April, while championship rivals Felipe Drugovich and Logan Sargeant have both won two or more races since the 18-year-old’s last visit to the top step of the podium.
And the French driver appeared pleased to be coming to the Hungaroring this weekend, saying: “It’s a cool track (in Hungary), Im happy to be here, normally in the races, it’s not very nice but in qualifying, it’s very fun to drive.”
Qualifying is very important at the Budapest circuit, due to the high difficulty in overtaking around the track, with Turn 1 and Turn 3 the main good opportunities for an overtake.
Pourchaire has struggled recently in qualifying, especially compared to his team mate Frederick Vesti, but the ART driver said: “Unfortunately I was not very good in that part of the weekend, since the last few races.
“If I qualify in the top 5 at every race weekend, I will be happy with that.”
The Sauber Academy driver currently trails Drugovich at the top of the standings by 39-points with five rounds and 10 races remaining of the season.
