Pourchaire in at HWA
Formula 3 vice-champion Théo Pourchaire will get his first chance of Formula 2 action as the Frenchman replaces Jake Hughes at HWA Racelab for the final two race weekends in Bahrain.
The seventeen year old native from Grasse who narrowly missed out on the Formula 3 title to Australian Oscar Piastri by three wins took two wins in his maiden Formula 3 season for ART Grand Prix.
Pourchaire’s arrival makes him the youngest driver on the gird as he partners up with veteran Markelov with the Frenchman keen to get started at his new team.
“I am really happy to participate in the final two rounds of FIA Formula 2 in Bahrain, I’d like to say a big thank you to BWT HWA RACELAB for giving me this opportunity.”
“I can hardly wait to work with the team and get to know a new car. I would also like to thank my family and sponsors for their support. I am ready to race.”
HWA team boss Thomas Strick praised Pourchaire’s saying that the Frenchman could find his feet in any racing series during his short career.
“We are pleased to allow such a highly-talented young driver to take his first steps in Formula 2, Théo’s talent is undisputed. The success he has enjoyed in his burgeoning career speaks for itself.”
“We are excited about his debut in Bahrain. In recent years, he has proved several times that he can quickly find his feet in a new series.”
Pourchaire will get to show his talents to HWA in the first Bahrain round on the 27th of November to the 29th of November held on the Grand Prix circuit.
