After a promising start to the season, PREMA face another challenging weekend to start the triple header with Bearman battling balance issues and Antonelli being set back after he stalled.

2024 rookie Kimi Antonelli put in a strong lap-time in Qualifying on Friday, managing to place P5 ahead of the weekend’s races. Despite this, balance issues surfaced on the hard tyres and hindered him in the Sprint Race, causing a P15 finish from his P6 starting position.

The Feature Race looked promising for the young Italian driver starting in P5. However, Antonelli stalled at the beginning of the formation lap and was pushed back into the pit-lane,  being forced to battle back through the field. Still, he managed to finish in P12 after an impressive drive from the back.

“We need to check what happened at the start of the formation lap. It’s a shame because I think we could have scored a few points today. […] We just need to analyse and try to move forward for the next round in Austria”

Bearman’s weekend was similar with battling balance issues in the races. He qualified P15 but finished P21 in the Sprint Race. Going into the Feature Race, Bearman was hopeful but problems began to arise after the first stint.

“The first stint seemed good. I did a good first lap and managed to get up into the points, but after that, on hot tyres, we really struggled for pace with the same balance issues as yesterday. Also I had an engine issue that cost me an extra position. We have to look into that and generally, we still have a lot of work to do to be consistently fighting in the points,”

Both PREMA drivers will be hoping for points in Austria next weekend to climb up the Standings as they become the only pairing to not have stepped on the podium during the 2024 season.
