The first round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship in Bahrain was not ideal for PREMA Racing.

The two drivers finished in 15th and 17th place respectivly. Both made a pit stop during the Spring Race, however, changing the tyres ultimately didn’t help the end result.

“It’s been a very tough race. We were running out of the points zone, and with 10 laps to go we decided to box. It’s good to know the prime tyres, and if there was a safety-car maybe we could still have had a chance” said Danish driver, Vesti.

“In the end, we finished P17, but there’s a lot to learn for tomorrow. It was not a clean and smooth race, we need to make a step.”

On a more promising note, Vesti will start from P5 in the Feature Race on Sunday.

Moreover, Ollie Bearman’s debut with PREMA ended in a disappointing way.

“We struggled quite a lot with the option tyres so we decided to pit and see if it would work” said Bearman

“I didn’t quite manage to catch the pack, but it was good learning for the race tomorrow.” Bearman will start from P12 in the Feature Race.

The Feature Race on Sunday will take off at 13:40 AST.
