PREMAPREMA Racing seek podiums at “true classic” Baku

As the FIA Formula 2 Championship heads to Azerbaijan, for Round 6 of the 2022 season, PREMA Team Principal Rene Rosin says his team’s goal is to continue the good run of podiums at the “unique circuit” in Baku..

PREMA has scored two wins in Baku, as well as four other podium results, including a double podium in the 2021 Feature Race.

Indian driver Jehan Daruvala picked up a podium on the city streets in 2021, finishing third in Sprint Race 2, while racing for Carlin.

Monaco Sprint Race winner Dennis Hauger will make his first race appearance in Baku.

Rosin, who has led PREMA to consecutive team championships in F2, says it is important for both drivers to stay “100 percent focussed.”

The Italian team will also be leaning on Daruvala’s experience this weekend, with Rosin saying: “We expect Jehan to take full advantage of his experience and guide the team throughout the weekend.”

While Hauger has not raced before in Baku, Rosin is “delighted” with the 19-year-old’s progress, adding: “We think he will definitely be in the game for something good.”

PREMA collected their first win of 2022 in Monaco, with Hauger’s maiden F2 victory in the Sprint Race, which was also a one-two as Daruvala followed his team mate home.

Daruvala, 23, enters the weekend third in the drivers’ championship , 60 points behind leader Felipe Drugovich. Hauger is 12th with 30 points.

PREMA currently sit fourth in the teams’ championship 52 points behind pace setters MP Motorsport.
