PREMA Seek Return to Form in Jeddah

PREMA Racing team boss Rene Rosin says the Italian team are ‘eager’ to get back on track this weekend in FIA Formula 2.

The three-time Formula 2 champions (2x F2, 1x GP2) endured a torrid weekend at the opening round in Bahrain, scoring just a single point with debutant Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

But Rosin hopes the ‘normally friendly’ Jeddah Corniche circuit in Saudi Arabia will bring better fortunes for his team.

PREMA won the Feature Race in Jeddah in 2023 as Danish driver Frederick Vesti took the top spot.

Rosin says the team have been putting in maximum effort to solve their issues from Bahrain.

He said: “We have been working nonstop this week to investigate and make a step forward, and we feel prepared and ready to go.”

Rosin added the team were ‘impressed’ by F2 rookie Antonelli in his first outing in the series, having jumped from FRECA (Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine) to F2 over the winter.

And they’re aiming to help British driver Oliver Bearman, who qualified on the front-row in Saudi Arabia last year, return to full form.

Round 2 of the F2 season starts on Thursday with Practice and Qualifying, ahead of the Sprint Race on Friday and the Feature Race on Saturday.
