Prema Seek to Build on Austria Promise

PREMA Racing is hoping to build on shoots of promise at Round 8 of the FIA Formula 2 season this weekend after their first win – and podium – of 2024 in Austria.

Oliver Bearman won the Sprint Race in Austria, after beating Invicta’s Kush Maini off the line in the reverse-grid race.

The Italian team has struggled to get to grips with the new-for-2024 FIA Formula 2 car, with drivers Oliver Bearman and Andrea Kimi Antonelli unable to mount the expected title challenges.

The team won the Sprint Race at the British circuit in 2023, with Frederick Vesti at the wheel – and are hoping Bearman’s triumph in Austria proves to be the catalyst to a stronger second half of the season.

Team Principal Rene Rosin said: “We had some promising signs at Red Bull Ring, including our first win of the season, and we hope to continue on that path despite the challenges we encountered there.”

PREMA sit 67 points behind teams’ championship leaders Campos Racing – who’ve won two races this season.

Rosin says he’s hopeful of a strong weekend.

“I think we will have good potential at Silverstone, but we all need to execute from the beginning.”
