PREMA Take Double Points in Feature Race
PREMA scored two points finishes in the Feature Race at Silverstone.
Robert Shwartzman and Mick Schumacher both improved from where they started with a consistent run on both tyre compounds. Both drivers went for a long stint before changing to the softer tyres later in the race.
Shwartzman managed to claw his way back to eighth, and Schumacher finished seventh meaning the Ferrari Driver Academy pair will start the Sprint Race from the front row. They will be hoping to use this great chance to take another step forward and take another step on the podium.
Robert Shwartzman said: “In general I feel we have improved. We finished in P8, gained a few positions, and ran at a consistently good pace. The first stint finished quite well, I was behind Mick and Mazepin with a more or less similar pace. After Mick pitted, I tried to stay out a little bit more, a couple of laps. The tyres were having a second life so they were coming back and I started to go quicker. The pitstop was quite good, and when I went out on the option set, we struggled a bit more. I couldn’t get past Mick because it’s so hard with the high downforce. The target for tomorrow, starting from P1, is to do the best possible job, start well and build a gap with good tyre management.”
Mick Schumacher said: “Compared to last week, we made a step forward in terms of tyre management. Right at the start, I was able to make up three places and was in 5th position. Today we opted for the alternative strategy, which is why I was able to take the lead after the early stops of the other cars. After my stop, I dropped back a bit, but the seventh place is okay and also brings us a good starting position for tomorrow’s race.”
PREMA will hope that the front row lockout for the reverse grid Sprint Race will give them a great chance for a double podium.
