After a difficult Qualifying both Prema cars started the Bahrain Sprint Race at the back of the grid.

Because of the disappointing qualifying position, the team decided to put both drivers on the alternative strategy of a non-mandatory tyre stop.

Antonelli concentrated on utilising his first start in F2 by using the race to get experienced with tyre compounds.

On his maiden F2 race Antonelli said, “The first race was actually not too bad, and we managed it quite well overall.”

After the Mercedes Junior Driver pitted, he was quicker on options and finished the race in P14, four positions up from where he qualified.

On his testing with the tyres Antonelli said, “On Prime the pace was good, we were able to keep it up with the guys out front. Then we boxed, and on Options the pace was strong.”

Bearman had a slower race with his car going into safety mode in the first few laps of the race which set him back and meant the team couldn’t use their planned strategy.

About the issue Bearman said, “In the first lap I had a bit of an issue and got safety mode, so I fell to the back so I couldn’t use the strategy.”

But ultimately the Ferrari Junior Driver managed to gain three positions on his qualifying place.

“We focused on tomorrow and I’m looking forward to putting that into practice.”

We will see if either of the Prema drivers can manage to get any points when the Formula 2 weekend concludes with the Feature Race tomorrow.
