Ralph Boschung stays with Campos Racing for a third consecutive season after a successful two years.
So far with the team, he has claimed three podiums. Since he joined, he has scored points at a fairly consistent rate and has helped them to climb their way up the teams’ standings in the last two years.
He is currently 14th overall in the drivers’ standings but this isn’t necessarily representative of his performance this year. He has been struggling with facet syndrome since he sustained a neck injury in Imola, the third round of the championship.
This forced him to take a break from the sport, despite attempting a comeback a few times throughout the year and not being able to. He returned fully in Belgium after taking six rounds off. On his return in Spa was when he took one of his three podiums, an incredible drive after coming back earlier than recommended.
Boschung also works hard outside of Formula 2 in order to keep him in the sport. Before his return to Campos, he hadn’t been able to finish the first three seasons of his F2 career due to a lack of funding. Off track, he works to gain his own sponsors and manages it all himself.
Speaking on the announcement ahead of the final weekend of the 2022 season:
“I am grateful to have the opportunity to continue with Campos Racing in FIA F2 next year. With 2021 being my only full F2 season, this year started so well but with the neck injury my whole season was compromised. I have an unfinished business and will want to prove that together with Campos racing we can achieve consistently very good results.”
Adrián Campos also gave his thoughts in his statement on the announcement:
”We are delighted to continue working with Ralph (Boschung), because after the health issues encountered, all we have a pending matter. Our goals together are still to be fulfilled and it will be our mission for next year, in which we expect to fight for top honors on a regular basis.”
