There’s a possibility Logan Sargeant could be second in the FIA Formula 2 Championship fight by the end of this weekend, after getting his head down, and working hard on himself, and with the team, to iron out his rookie mistakes.
The Carlin driver didn’t consider he’d be in this kind of position by this point of the season. His focus was on improving in each session and each round.
“I didn’t pay too much attention to the Championship side of it. I’ve just been trying to get better round after round. Ironing out the rookie mistakes. I’m going to continue not looking too much into it, and continue doing the best job I can at the end of the day, that’s where it’s going to leave us.”
Qualifying in third today, puts him on the second row of the grid in Sunday’s Feature Race. While those around him were violating track conditions and having track times deleted, the winner of last weekend’s Feature Race at Silverstone kept his cool, holding slightly back in the middle sector.
He went on to tell insideF2 and other associated media outlets:
“I think we had a really good car underneath us today, one that was arguably good enough for Pole. So slightly frustrating to miss out on that. But with the amount of track limit violations today we had to be happy that we put a good lap on the board and it’s a good position for the next couple of races.
“I left a bit on the table in the middle sector. It’s a little annoying.”
Being fastest in the first sector, could prove handy on the Feature Race start for the Floridan.
“Qualifying to the race is different to the way the car needs to be driven, but I think we can be confident that we can go forward this weekend.”
