Having wrapped up the Formula 2 Drivers’ title last weekend in Bahrain, the young German was given his second chance to take the Haas car out for a spin.
His first test was scheduled for the Eifel Grand Prix in October. But torrential rain saw an end to the dream, as the session was cancelled.
There was no danger of rain stopping play this weekend as temperatures soared at the Yas Marina circuit.

With #50 on his car, the test number for Haas, the light changed to green in the pit lane for the first session to begin.
For the first time in history, Schumacher junior’s name appeared on the timing sheets.

Schumacher completed the session with no incident and recorded a time of +3.857 behind fastest driver, Red Bull’s, Max Verstappen.
No doubt with his chosen #47 on the car next season, he will look to close the gap to the front runners.
Qualifying hasn’t been Schumacher’s strong point to date. However, he will be looking to maximise the expertise and mentorship he’ll receive at the Haas team to improve his chances of multiple pole positions in the future.Â
