Silverstone ‘the best track on the calendar’ Says O’Sullivan

ART Grand Prix driver Zak O’Sullivan says Silverstone is the best circuit on the FIA Formula 2 2024 calendar.

The British driver is one of three drivers in the F2 field who will be benefitting from home support at Round 8 of the season.

Speaking to InsideF2’s Fraser Ford, the 19-year-old said: “Any time I get to race at Silverstone is a good time.

“It is strange for me as I raced in the UK since my early days. Silverstone was the main track we tested at, so I am always happy to be here.”

O’Sullivan is aiming to add to his Monaco Feature Race win earlier this season with a memorable result on home turf.

That victory is the high point in a disappointing year so far for the French team that sees them eighth in the teams’ championship.

Silverstone a drivers favourite

Williams Academy driver O’Sullivan said the sequence of corners from Copse, the fast right-hander, including Maggotts, Becketts, Chapel and Stowe, are among the best on the calendar.

“It is really high speed, especially this year with the ground effects, it will be very very quick. Especially in the race as well, you can feel the car moving around.” he said.

Spanish driver Pepe Martí echoed those thoughts.

The Campos driver said: “When you nail a lap here, it is more special than at other tracks.”

The Red Bull Junior driver added:

“I think there are a lot of things that come to play to put a good lap in here. Very high speed, especially in the Maggotts, Becketts complex. It is a very cool track and I really enjoy it.

“I actually think my favourite part of the track is Maggotts, Becketts, but the last chicane I really like.”
