Taking success in every series he sets his sights on, Audi Junior Freddie Slater has graduated to Formula 2 following a highly-impressive rookie F3 season.Â
Joining Leonardo Fornaroli and Gabriel Bortoleto in being Trident F3 drivers who have made the switch to Invicta Racing for F2, Freddie Slater has made the big step up to the 22-car series, and is the first confirmed driver for the 2027 season.
Joining Trident Motorsport for his full-season Formula 3 debut in 2026, Slater went on to take a dominant eight podiums in the series, including one win.
Narrowly missing out on the title to Ugo Ugochukwu, Slater finished runner-up with 145 points, setting himself as the highest-scoring rookie in 2026.
Prior to his maiden full season, the Brit featured in two rounds of F3 the year before, taking a podium on his debut with AIX Racing in the Sakhir Sprint Race. This massively aided in his securing of a seat for the following season, yet his success elsewhere made his racing CV incredibly attractive.
Taking not just records but also titles, Slater was destined for glory from the start. Starting his karting journey at seven years old, he took nine championships across his seven year journey, before moving to the Ginetta Junior Championship.
His dominance didn’t stop there, and by the time he moved up to single-seaters, he had won both the Ginetta Junior and Ginetta Junior Winter championships in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
He then made the switch to F4 and won the 2024 Italian F4 Championship with a record-breaking 15 wins, as well as the F4 UAE Championship with six podiums.
After his Formula Regional European Championship victory, the 18-year old committed to join Trident Motorsport for the 2026 Formula 3 season.
Whilst receiving well-earnt support from fans since the start of his racing career, Slater has also received support from Audi F1, becoming the first to join their Driver Development Programme in January.
Now representing Invicta as well as Audi, Slater is set to make his Formula 2 debut in post-season testing in Abu Dhabi, though as of yet nothing is confirmed.
