As part of our Team Radio section on insideF2.com, Luca was kind enough to catch up with insideF2 and share a Spotify playlist for our followers to enjoy.
Most of us find that music is a non-negotiable part of everyday routine and this is no different for athletes like Luca. We discussed fitness and working out especially now when we have access to limited resources and equipment.
Luca said, “For me when I training music is mandatory, I cannot train without it. I like listening to music normally but when training I find time doesnt move when I dont have it”.
We talked about what type of music Luca likes to listen too when training and if there are any artists in particular that he followed, “When I train, I normally listen to music which is of a high rhythm and tempo. 99% of the time I listen to electronic and house music, something that gives me that energy.”

The playlist has been put together as a little sample of the type of things that Luca listens too so that you can all get the feeling and vibe of the sessions.
When it comes to making playlists he like many doesn’t make specific playlists, as such and chooses to keep it fresh, “Honestly, Im the type of person to just select a playlist rather than create my own to listen to as I dont like to listen to the same playlists all the time. I just like to change the playlist but keep the tempo like house music so the songs change.”
I do like to ask what the last song a person has listened to as I know from experience it can be quite a funny answer if someone has been a passenger in a car or listening to a friend or family member’s music while together.
Unfortunately for me, I didn’t get such an omission but Luca did answer honestly to my cheeky surprise question, “Oh wow, I listened to one song while watching a movie so I don’t know if that counts?” he said jovially, but in seriousness, “When I was training, I listened last to a song called Reload from Sebastian Ingrosso, it was the type of song you would listen to in a party and was good for training.”

Looking back on Luca’s 2019 F2 season; one in which he showed his always impressive racecraft and speed with a third-place finish in the driver’s championship. The season saw nine podiums, four of which he stood on the top step.Â

In conversation, we discussed which race he would watch back if you could choose one?
“Oh, for me its easily Bahrain, race two last year, it was by far I think the most exciting race of my whole career. I would watch that a thousand times”
However, Luca being the competitive racer he ought to be, wasn’t happy with the outcome overall for the season “I dont feel like last year was a perfect season”.
We did ask if there was song would come to mind, to sum it up; “Ah thats a tough one”, “I cant choose a song that fits right. The Gladiator song from the movie is a good song but it doesnt really fit the season, I would say that song and only watch it with the Bahrain race from last year”

Looking at the year ahead and commencement of the season, I asked about a potential theme song for what he hopes will be a strong 2020 with an impressive Hitech GP car following testing?
“Well considering I have two championships to race this year with GT’s and F2 in half a season; especially with the delays we have now, I think a song that talks about being busy. Maybe listening to two songs at the same time will work best.”
If we do get back on track soon it will be a rollercoaster ride in terms of logistics for teams and drivers, Luca will be juggling two championships if they run them simultaneously which will be quite a challenge.
So, it certainly looks like Luca will have to keep the tempo high like he does in training and attempts to juggle the different and fast-paced schedules.
