Christian Lundgaard produced a brilliant performance in Sundays Sprint Race. The Danish driver took the lead at the start and scored a second win of the season.
Lundgaard said after the race: “I actually had to lift (at the start) because I didn’t know if there was space on the inside but redemption from yesterday I think considering the pace we had today it could’ve been a P1 and P1 but I’m just so happy right now I don’t really know what to say”.
Second place was claimed by Swiss driver Louis Deletraz, who picked up his second podium of the weekend. The Charouz Racing driver used all his experience to stay out of trouble to claim a good finish.
Speaking after the race Deletraz said “Yeah it’s really great I mean two podiums in a row we’ve been fighting for it to score good points and finally had a smooth weekend in terms of races. Yesterday I started 13th finished 3rd and today 6th finished 2nd so I can’t ask for more beside chasing the win.”
The final place on podium was taken by Juri Vips. The Estonian driver started on the front row and showed good pace throughout the event to take home his maiden F2 podium.
Sean Gelael’s replacement was pleased with his performance, saying: “First Podium which I’m kind of happy about but kind of not also. Because I’m starting second and if I had done the start right I think Markelov was eaten up by the front runners, I think we could’ve won the race. So a little bit of mixed feelings, maybe the hopes I set myself are a little bit too high coming into this championship. It’s just my third round but nevertheless I’m quite happy with the podium and just happy to score some points from the team.”
