Track Guide – Round 05 – Monza
Monza hosts the fifth round of the F2 Championship. The Italian circuit is steeped in history with an Oval layout used in the early days and the modern layout being a super fast circuit with incredibly long straights which encourage overtaking. The Circuit has been part of the F2 calendar ever since the Series introduction in 2005.
Monza has produced great racing in F2 over the years and one of the most exciting moments came back in 2018 and a battle between title rivals Lando Norris and George Russell. The duo of British drivers endured a great duel on the 11 Turn circuit and showcased their promising talents.
The Monza Circuit is incredibly exciting and is the fastest on the F2 calendar. The layout itself is very intriguing with heavy braking zones into slow chicanes at Turns 1 and 4 plus fast and flowing corners such as Ascari and Parabolica.
The Rettifilio chicane at Turn 1 is the best overtaking opportunity on the 3.6 mile circuit and with the extra help of DRS on the main straight it certainly provides a huge chance to make a pass.
