Trident Motorsport are going into the opening round of the 2023 FIA Formula 2 season full of positivity and focus. With a completely new driver line-up, the team are looking to work hard for a competitive season.
The team has a new driver line-up from last year in Roman Stanek and Clément Novalak. This is Stan?k’s first season in F2, moving up from F3 where the Czech driver had finished fifth in the championship with Trident Motorsport.
On the other hand, Novalak has experience within F2, having raced with MP Motorsport, the team which won both the drivers’ championship with Felipe Drugovich and teams’ championship the previous year. Previously, he had finished third with Trident in the F3 2021 season.
Trident’s Team Manager, Giacomo Ricci said: “I think Novalak and Stan?k
can make a good combination with complementary characteristics. They have been part of our family for a long time and know our way of working. This is certainly a positive element: the team will give its best to support them and help them to achieve their goals.”
Despite not completing the full program during testing due to technical issues, the team are content with their level of preparation and ready for an ‘educational’ season.
Inter-team relationships are crucial in motorsports so having drivers with already established relationships with Trident Motorsport strengthens the team further. After finishing ninth in the standings in 2022, Trident hope this new line-up will help their mission to achieve higher standings and better results in 2023.
