The first feature race of the year brought bad fortune for the Trident team, with only one car finishing the race outside of the points.

Rookie Roman Stanek had a good start from ninth on the grid but was then bumped off the track by Victor Martins and had to end his race on the first lap.

Giacomo Ricci, team manager was hoping Stanek could continue his good form he’d shown this weekend, “After yesterday’s good performance, we were counting on Roman to have a good race since he was starting from the ninth position on the grid.”

Clément Novalak, in his second F2 year and his first with the Trident team had a lot of ground to make up starting on the last row.

The Frenchman did end up finishing in P13 and kept a positive race pace helping the team try to apply the tyre strategy that could aid his recovery.

“We tried different solutions with the strategies with Clément Novalak, but his position was too far back on the grid which did not allow him to aim for the points zone.”

It’s safe to say the team will be hoping for a better weekend in two weeks’ time when the F2 season continues in Jeddah.
