Richard Verschoor took pole in Azerbaijan, only 0.017 seconds ahead of 2025 Formula 1 driver, Kimi Antonelli in a chaotic Qualifying session.

Verschoor set the initial pace by setting the fastest time of the first set of flying laps only 0.079 seconds quicker than Victor Martins.

Before Verschoor, Isack Hadjar looked to be the quickest driver on track but despite holding provisional pole position in the opening stages, he found himself only ninth with only 13 minutes to go.

The final stages of Qualifying were a disaster for Campos Racing as both cars, including championship leader, Hadjar found the wall with only 4 minutes left on the clock.

Team mate, Pepe Martí locked up going into Turn 1, sending him front wing first into the barriers. Hadjar followed behind him making the exact same mistake.

The red flag was flown to repair the barriers but Verschoor managed to hold the top spot, marginally ahead of Antonelli and Verschoor for pole position in Sunday’s Feature Race.

Christian Mansell will start his first ever Formula 2 race from reverse grid pole for the Sprint Race after qualifying an impressive 10th on debut.

He replaces Roman Stanek for the rest of the season after finishing fifth in the F3 driver standings this year.

Also finishing their debut F2 Qualifying session in the top 10 is PREMA driver, Gabriele Minì who replaces Ollie Bearman while he steps in for Kevin Magnussen after a one race suspension.

Hadjar’s first Qualifying time left him only 15th on the grid for both races and outside of the points.
