After his Feature Race win, Richard Verschoor spoke emotionally in his post-race interview about the passing of his friend and fellow Dutchman, Dilano van ‘t Hoff.
The 18 year old Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) driver tragically lost his life following a crash at Spa on Saturday morning.
Tributes have been coming in abundance since the incident, for a driver that has made a difference to the lives’ of many who had the pleasure to know him, and race with him.
Verschoor was open about the effect it has had on him but produced an incredible race, which he dedicated to his friend:
“It was a beautiful race. To be honest, at the moment I can only think about Dilano. He was a good friend of mine and it just kicks in, right now.
“Thanks so much to the team they gave us a good car, it wasn’t that easy, I really had to fight for it but I did that for Dilano today.”
The incident was a painful reminder to fans, and drivers of the bravery and risks that are taken to perform in the sport we all love and the importance of safety in modern day motorsport.
From all of us at insideF2, we reflect the well wishes and condolences for Dilano’s family, friends and MP Motorsport.
