FIA Formula 2 returns to the Principality this weekend, and ART Grand Prix’s Frederick Vesti is aiming of a “dream” victory in Monaco.
Danish driver Vesti picked up his maiden Formula 2 podium in the Spanish Feature Race and says that Monaco is his “dream track to be on the top step of the podium.”
The 20-year-old said, “Monaco is the highlight of the Formula 2 season!”
The F2 rookie has found an upturn in form through the last two rounds, having remained scoreless in both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
After ending his barren points run with sixth place in the Emilia-Romagna Feature Race, the Mercedes Junior Team driver enjoyed his strongest weekend in Barcelona, with third place in the Feature Race.
Vesti also cracked the top 10 in qualifying for the first time, by placing his ART third on the grid, as well as picking up two points in the Sprint with a seventh-place finish.
Looking ahead to his first trip to Monaco, Vesti said: “Monaco is incredibly technical and requires serious confidence to deliver a strong result.”
The former PREMA and ART F3 driver will aim to be that confident driver, as he seeks to build on what could turn out to be a breakthrough weekend in Spain.
The ART crew will be in a good position to guide the young Dane, having won the Monaco Feature Race from pole position in 2021 with Vesti’s teammate Théo Pourchaire.
Pourchaire, a Sauber Junior Team driver, is currently second in the Driver Championship, while Vesti, is 13th with 25-points so far.
The ART GP team itself are second in the Team Championship, chasing leaders MP Motorsport, who have a 23-point advantage over the French team.
