ART Grand Prix‘s Frederik Vesti responded to Sebastian Vettel‘s decision to retire at the end of the 2022 season, as the Aston Martin driver announced it on his brand new Instagram account.
After 15 full seasons, four championship titles, 53 wins, and a haul of F1 records, Vettel backed down from the circus life to focus solely on raising his kids, which pulled him in a different direction.
However, it’s well known that his 15 years of career in Formula One has inspired many of our stars in Formula 2, including Vesti, despite being a part of the Mercedes family.
“I was really surprised to see Vettel retiring,” Stated Vesti. “Obviously, what he has done to the sport, both as a human and as a racing driver, he has been one of the outstanding names in the history of Formula One, and seeing him leave is very sad.
“I wish him the best, and I’m sure he will bring new drivers in. He said in his press conference that he was letting the future drivers get in. It’s interesting. Respect to him for what he has achieved.”
