Vesti Retires in Silverstone, Pourchaire Closes Championship Gap

FIA Formula 2 Championship leader, Frederik Vesti retired from the Feature Race in Silverstone after a collision with Dennis Hauger left him with suspension damage.

The team pitted him to change the tyres afterwards and try to fix any damage, but sent him out with damaged suspension, giving PREMA a fine.

“An  unfortunate Race Day. It was positive after a very good start from P10 to P7 and then boxed quite early to go for a good undercut which seemed very attentive. The Safety Car came and it was the worst possible timing which was very unfortunate and brought us down to P16.”

“Then I got hit from behind during during the Safety Car and had to retire the car.  We reset, we come back, we still have the [Sprint Race] win from yesterday, and the championship lead. We continue to push.”

Vesti stays in the lead of the championship with 135 points, only six points ahead of Théo Pourchaire, who finished on the podium in the Feature Race.
