Jüri Vips has received a DSQ after the Formula 2 Bahrain Qualifying session.
Late on Saturday evening it was announced that Race Stewards had determined the Hitech car’s under tray was not compliant with the 2021 technical regulation, and subsequently disqualified the Estonian driver.
He will not only start the first Sprint Race at the back of the grid but also Sunday’s main event, the Bahrain Feature Race.
It will no doubt be a disappointment to the Red Bull junior driver as his well-earned P5 was a solid start to his 2021 Championship campaign.
This results in Théo Pourchaire inheriting the Sprint Race 1 pole position. He will lead four of the F3 graduates in the maiden Formula 2 race of 2021.
From out of nowhere we have been thrust into a mouth-watering repetition of last season’s Formula 3 Championship.
*However, Vips could be set to take up his original grid position under appeal.
We will wait and see now ahead of the Sprint Race what the final decision will be.
