When Are The F2 Races in Monaco?

FIA Formula 2 rolls into the Principality of Monaco for Round 5 of the 2024 season with the title battle heating up.

Rodin Motorsport’s Zane Maloney holds top spot, which he has done so since the opening round of the year, but after failing to score in the Imola Feature Race, his lead is down to five points.

Hitech’s Paul Aron is his nearest challenge, with Isack Hadjar, winning of the last two Feature Races, nine points off the top in third.

And with overtaking opportunities in Monaco next-to-zero, Qualifying on Friday takes on extra importance.

The last time a driver took pole in F2 at Monaco and failed to win the Feature Race was in 2018, when Alex Albon retired from the race after colliding with Nyck De Vries.

It’s a vital weekend for PREMA and ART, with both teams yet to see one of their drivers stand on the podium.

Victor Martins and Oliver Bearman, both pre-season favourites for the title, need strong results after another disappointing round in Imola.

Neither driver has reached double-figure points after four rounds.

The race weekend in Monaco takes on a slightly different format to normal.

The single practice session taking place on Thursday, with a two-group Qualifying session on Friday.

The driver setting the fastest time from either group in qualifying will take pole, with the driver fastest in the other group lining up second.

The rest of the pole sitter’s group will take the odd numbered places on the grid, with the even numbers taken by the drivers in the other group.

In 2023, Group B’s Frederick Vesti took pole, with Group A’s Victor Martins alongside him.
