UNI-Virtuosi enjoyed yet another successful home race weekend as Formula 2 returned to Silverstone for the fourth round of the season.

The British team left the iconic British circuit with a Feature Race win, their third victory and fifth podium at the circuit in just three years.

Qualifying saw the team start inside the top ten for both the first Sprint Race and the Feature Race at the uncharacteristically sunny British track.

Having qualified second, Guanyu Zhou started ninth for the first race of the round, and as the lights went out, he was quick to make up places into turn one.

However, a spin for the Chinese driver meant he was out of the race and starting at the back of the track for the second Sprint Race.

Despite starting 22nd, Zhou drove excellently and fought his way through the field to 11th.

Starting from the front row, the Alpine Academy Driver overtook Oscar Piastri into turn one, staying in front of his competitors on the same strategy as him, crossing the line to claim his third win of the season.

Zhou said: “This Feature Race is redemption for what happened in the first Sprint Race. We made progress and got places back.

“Today was a perfect race – the team provided me with a great car, so I’m super happy. It was quite a comfortable race for me out in front, so I’m now looking forward to the next race.”

Felipe Drugovich found the pace to move up to fourth in the race, holding his nerve as he defended up until the end of the race and claiming a handful of presents.

The Brazilian started in seventh with the reverse grid format for Sprint Race 2. A commendable drive saw Drugovich claim another points finish, finishing where he started.

Drugovich also enjoyed a great start and gained positions during the first stint of the race; he maintained track position to take a respectable sixth-place finish.

Drugovich said: “P4, P7 and P6 were the results this weekend! We did improve a lot for the Feature Race but got stuck behind trying to overtake other cars…

“Just got to keep working and improving as it goes.”

After the fourth round of the 2021 season, Zhou sits second in the standings, just five points behind championship leader Piastri while Drugovich rose to seventh in the standings after Silverstone.

UNI-Virtuosi will hope to claim more points and climb higher in the championship standings when Formula 2 returns to Monza in September.
